Any good cad package has a way to create or add a new layer, then name it to something which makes sense to you. Then turn the layers for one deck on and the others off. With both decks on you can line up track and benchwork edges either by endpoints or copying parts and changing them to another layer name. I'm using AutoCAD for my 3 deck 500 foot mainline EJ&E in N scale. But I have also used Orcad, Cadkey, ProE, Solidworks and they all use this concept. Another nice feature of turning all the layers on is to see where the road is busy and moving towns so two people aren't working the same floor space while operating on different decks. Best-O-Luck

I haven't been able to figure out the layers feature, so I did my upper and lower as two seperate track plans. I depends on how the levels are going to join. My upper will have all the scenery, the lower just train storage/staging, reversing loop and programming track. One track leads to the upper level, so far anyhow.

My track plans are at the site in my signature in the logos album.

If you figure it out let us know!

XtrakCAD lets you choose different layers to be active / visible. You can also name the layers. The menu item: "tools"/"layers" allow you to change the name, etc. From the toolbar you can select layers and show/hide. Somewhere there is a users forum, but I haven't found it yet. I have been using it for about a month, and just figured out how to print!

I'm planning a layout that is essentially three levels: a lower level staging area, A main bench, and a smaller shelf above. How do I seperate the layers on XtraCAD so I can work on them independently?
