Tortoise wiring 2-7 contacts
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, March 3, 2005 11:06 PM
Greetings all

what do the contacts 2-7 do?
I am using shinohara non DCC friendly turnouts would these contacts be useful for the above turnout?
I am not using stationay decoders but a
plug from a answering machine to power my tortoises.

I notice that evne after 16.00 Circuitron didnt include the explantion of the items just that I had to cntact them for an answer.

Seems like a tease

You should have an instruction sheet that comesin every new Tortoise. It has a mounting template, bending template for the actuator wire, and wiring diagrams.

At the bottom of this page is a diagram of which contacts are connected at which time. http://home.cogeco.ca/~rpaisley4/556Stall.html

ok...2 thru 7 are as follows...#4 is the input for # 2 and #3 posts...when the tortoise is in the Left position, #2 is a "Made" circuit and #3 is a "Break" circuit....and the same applies for the # 5 post..#5 is the input with the #6 as the "Break" circuit and the #7 is the "Made" circuit...when the tortoise goes to the right position the #2 & #3 posts trade as the "make" or "break" circuit from the #4 post, as does the #6 and & #7 posts will for the #5 post input..it acts as a DP/DT or two SP/DT switches..if you e-mail me, i can send you a diagram of the tortoise circuit positions...chuck
