The layout is from the book titled "N Scale Railroad That Grows" published by Kalmbach Books. This layout is small enough to fit the space that isavailable and large enough to learn new skills. If anybody can suggest another layout. I will be more than happy to look at the possibilties. I have seen the Terrian for Trains layouts and I am thinking about that possibility.

DCC can work with AC lights & such, but the AC stuff requires a separate power source. It is possible to wire incorporate all the signalling and such into the DCC scheme, the Digitrax DCC book gives a pretty good review of how.

Hi artl88

Welcome to the forum. Not a lot of response to the first posting it would seem. Anyway, I am not sure it is clear what layout you are refering to. Can you direct the forum more specifically to the plan you are considering?

N Scale Model Railroad That Grows, Has anyone built this layout?

I am thinking of building this layout. Has anyone built this layout? If so, what problems and pitfalls am I going to experience? Can under the table switch machines be used? If they can be used, which brand? Can DCC work with AC lights, signals etc? And what do I need to get this layout wired and up and running with switch machines, signals, and any other concerns to operate with DCC? This layout is one of the learning steps that will take my existing skill level to the next.
