soldering rail

I never solder a turnout into a layout, but solder power feeders to the outsides of the stock rails about midway. A turnout is the only trackwork with moving parts, so if anything is ever going to need replacement it will be that. I leave enough room to slide the rail joiners off by cutting at least two crossties from the ends of the flex track that connects to the turnout, and then put "false" crossties in the gap.

Don't solder them, just don't count on the rail joiners to conduct the power, solder wire jumpers from section to section under the table...

I don't solder rail joints to track any more. I just solder feeders to track. But, I solder feeders to EVERY track. I only rely on rail joiners for track alignment, not to conduct electricity. No problems, Mate!

You can either not solder and just use the rail connectors,or if you do solder,It's not a big deal to heat the connection and unsolder it
