If it fits, I don't see why not. Mostof the N scale decoders are made to fit specific engines, due to the tight fit of the frames and so forth. You cna use anything that will fit inside the loco, but direct wire decoders will naturally require some soldering, while a drop in, if available, will go in very easily.

Ok, but would i be able to cut the wires to the light boards on the DN122K2 and just use the decoder and the stock lights, with resistors maybe on the lights?

Does anyone know of a Digitrax decoder that could work with a kato N Scale bullet train/MU.
