How to make excellent trees in 30 seconds !

I tried the technique experimenting with local dead bushes that are around in winter. Some looked really good. Other's well...

Now we know which to get. But hey 20 trees in about 10 minutes.

The branches you are using come from the Nandina plant... other wise known on the west coast as "heavenly bamboo". They do make good looking trees.

Great trees! Shows what a little creativity can do!

I make my trees from local weeds and just spray with 3M spray adhesive and sprinkle with various colors and sizes of ground foam. I can make lots of trees in a short time too! Click on the link in my signature for pics.

Thanks to all for the kind words, I hope it will help some of you out.

Robert, the water isnt done yet, all I have done is painted and toned the area where the water will go and then sealed it with high gloss polyeurothane, it looks good in the photos but when you are there it lacks depth. I will be pouring epoxy over this base(when I finally finish my first scratchbuilding, a small fishing pier and bait shop)

they are great looking and easy to do, also dirt cheap.

Deciduous trees can be made quickly and cheaply by:
1. Gather some tree or heavy plant roots (cleaned up somewhat)
2. Mix several green shades of Woodland Scenics fine foam in a coffee can (with lid)
3. Make small balls of WS green stretch ground cover
4. Spray ball with cheap hairspray and toss it in the can for a 30 second shake
5. Stretch the coated ball over the "limbs" of your plant root
6. Spray with a finish coat of hair spray
7. Place on your layout after touching up with washes etc. till you're satisfied with the look.

Great job on the trees, have copied it to use for future use in a clinic. Will go along great with some other methods for pine and broadleafs. The water on your river looks like you could get wet touching it. Was it done with the Woodland Scenics newer pour on w/ water effects? Bob K.

Looks good Karl,

I've been making forests full of trees using poly fiber but the results are dense balls of foliage. It's ok for the background but trees like yours are excellent for fore-ground trees.

Hello to all,
as I have learned so much here in the last 3 months I have decided to share some of that back into the forum. After following aggrojones instructions on making pine trees (which I am extremely happy with) I still needed some variety. In my quest I scoured many sources online and in the real world and finally found the answer in my next door neighbours back yard. This is a pic of one of the trees I made, they are extremely easy and only take about 30 seconds eah to make !!! and they cost pretty much nothing.
