Hey All,
Figured now that this project is literally on its feet after many years, i'd finally chornicle the build here, particularly as it related to any questions I might have with regards to your expertise.
This is an n-scale layout that will depict the UPRR Roseville Sub's route from Colfax, CA to the summit in Truckee, CA - a distance of 52nm.
This is a "railfan" layout as there are not many industries to switchout and I prefer railfan action myself, having spent many a trip railfanning in this area depicted.
The layout was immediately inspired by MRR's Canadian Canyons layout and will include a helix and many simliar features except this one will be bigger.
I'm a model airplane builder so needless to say, I can't wait to get into the actually modeling and leave the carpentry and electrical skills behind.
Some features of this layout will include.
1. Atlas code 55 track
2. Number 11 turnouts
3. 22" radius curves.
4. Circa 2015 era
5. Photo-real buildings
6. Photo real buildings as the great Lance Mindheim has shown us how to build.
7. Hyper-real scenery - Hopefully acheiving half of what BArailsystems (youtube), SouthernAlbertaRail (youtube), Pelle Soeborg has acheived.
By the way, if anyone ever makes a photo trip to Colfax or Truckee, please let me know if you'd like to grab a few shots of some of the buildings for me, for commision of course.
Until next time!
to the forum. Looking forward to your updates. As it was your first post, you almost got the pic thing figured out.
hint everything before the bracket img and after the bracket img can be dispensed with.
Your intial posts are delayed in moderation. I have a feeling that you won't be making you 5th post 10 years from now.

Hi Nadrazi,
Congratulations on your first post to the forums, and congratulations on starting your layout! It took me 15 years from the time I started into the hobby to when I actually began cutting wood. My track and wiring will be done next spring.
I am looking forward to watching your layout progress. Don't be shy about posting pictures and explaining what you are doing. We need more threads like this one.
Cheers!!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
My best friend an I spent many weekends railfanning that section of track when it was owned by the SP. We would walk the tracks up to Cape Horn and view the north folk of the American River. We knew the lineup because we became friends with the operator at Colfax. I knew every spot from Colfax to Truckee and would watch the trains as they came by. If you would like my memories please email me off list at igoldberg1@hughes.net.
