Posted by Silver Spike on Sunday, October 8, 2023 5:36 PM

Almost completed with the layout design plan for level 1 of my 2-level layout.

Level 1 is from New Orleans, LA to Pearl River, LA following Norfolk Southern Railroad with some interchange action with the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad. Possibly adding an interchange with CSX as well.

Maximum Shelf Width: 24"

Minimum Radius: 32"

Minimum Turnout: #8 Walthers and Atlas

Minimum Passing Siding: 22'Layout Design Level 2

In my case, I have a Nolix and a Helix.  The track travels at various grades through out the mainline with a grade no more than 1.8% to go from staging under the main yard and eventually going up 10.5 inches to the main yard.  The Helix (below) takes trains back to the other level.
