San Fancisco and Oakland are both quite famous for the variety of trees in the cities. There are actually "tree tours" that can be had.

Like you could see in my topic "what do you think of this plan" i'm making a new layout inspired by Oakland and Jack London Square. My question now is: what sort of trees are standing on Embarcadero West, there not palm trees.

Daag, Marctje!  The tree from which Oakland gets its name is the Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia).  There is a particular example of this tree in Frank Ogawa Plaza London that is called the Jack London Oak.  Note that this is not Jack London Square which is on the waterfront.  Pictures are found on the internet.  It is about as far from being a palm as it can be!  Check there to see if this is what you have in mind.  The other tree common to historic Oakland is the Canyon Live Oak (Quercus chrysolepis).  These two trees would be mostly indistinguishable at any model railroading scale.  I am not sure what kind of tree occurs along Embarcadero West and bordering Jack London Square.  Perhaps someone more familiar with the city knows.
