8x12 HO scale polystyrene incline

Bayway Terminal

Thanks Shane, i am going to scale it out on paper first, in addition to the main outside 36" radius track (which be a graduated incline) there is an inside spur track 18" distance from the outside main that will also need to be a half radius entention, maybe 22" or 18" half radius will suffice? Bayway Terminal NJ

The outside track is an example of what i am planning, Bayway Terminal NJ

Shane you did better than myself.  I'm still scratching my head over diagonal inches.

I strangulated a number from start of the curve to the half way point to be 4 foot 3 inches.  that is edge to edge on the center line.  considering track width and spacing, 5 foot is a good diaginal for fudge room. to put a 36" radious on a corner.

I do agree a minor sketch would b e usefull to.   I might be figuring that wrong if I read the description wrong.

Perhaps a crude track plan would help us understand what dimension you are asking about.  Images need to be posted following the rules in a sticky post in the General Forum.

Layout Expansion Planning

I am in process of planning an extension of my 3' x 14' industrial linear switching layout by using Seivers open grid / pre cut sections in different HO scale size  templates that the company mailed to me. Can anyone tell me how many diagonal inches of surface space i will need for installing a single outside main track at 36'' half radius curve. As of now i am at 5' (corner to corner) on the outside demension using 2 open grid sections each measuring 30" x 48 ", by connnecting a 90 degree section to 180 degree right angel section.
