Nice work! I like that you didn't make the roof completely uniform. I hope this vid encourages others to try that out.

Amen! Following this suggestion from some - now long forgotten forum, I have a sizeable collection of plastic cylinders, machine guards, roof details, and various types of "industrial junk" - filling four large plastic jugs. If it has a useful or interesting shape, I'll keep it, and every once-in-a-while, I'll find just what I needed.

Some good tips here.
Have you ever worked with black styrene? To me it is easier to get a good gray look to a factory roof if you are trying to lighten the black base with gray paint rather than trying to darken white styrene with gray paint.
And for that myriad of rooftop details, don't over look the "free" interesting shapes and features from plastic packaging of various kinds that otherwise gets tossed into trash or the recycle bin. Just by way of example, the insides of dental floss containers, the throw-away plastic "nub" that comes with bug spray or yard and deck fogger spray cans, and the small size containers of shampoo, body lotion and such that you get when you stay in a hotel/motel. Also the cap to tubes of styptic pencil.
