You know for that price I would buy it anyway, you can buy good castings from the new owner of FSM as he sells just the castings normally. Now you didn't mention what Paige kit it was but he copyed a lot.
Gosh! I'm astounded that such caddish behavior would occur in the world of model railroading. Well, this sawmill kit was being sold for 16.99, new old stock, so quite a bit of a drop from the $118 to $199. But I don't truck with scoundrels. I can do without, or wait for something to show up at a swap meet.
Case closed.

Indeed, I was thinking about $85 or at least under $100 would be a good price for that kit on EBay, supply and demand at work.
Cost is a relative thing, EBay is showing 5 FSM Old Time Sawmill Kits offered at prices between $120 and $230, seems quite a bit to ask for a kit that was $40 back in the day.
These are knockoffs of FSM kits. I think Paige he went to jail for his misdeeds. With the cost of FSM kits way down it is better to buy one of them as the casting are much better as Paige made molds of FSM stuff and others and recast them but the recasts were of generaly bad quality.
Calling all craftsman kit build- and bashers, come in please.
I happened across a dark blue box in my local, a box about the size of a Campbell Scale Models kit only even narrower, labelled Paige Enterprises, with a small sticker on the end of the box saying HO Sawmill Kit 1002, and an address in Wilmington, Delaware. That's all. No picture of the assembled kit. Looks like it might be a few decades old.
Have any of you built this kit? Do you have a photo of it? All I can find on the interwebs is the diagram showing the plan view, not much to tell me what the model really looks like.
I'm considering a sawmill, and I like the idea of a craftsman kit. And this would be one I could afford. Just need an idea what it looks like. I imagine it's small.
Any clues appreciated.
