Thanks to all who replied. I ended up purching a Ric railer. It seems to work great.
Overmod,
There used to be something like that, but I have't seen one for years. Think I even had a few. There were two plastic points on a brass (?) spring that clipped under the ties on each end, so could be placed on any straight track. If I remember correctly they were about 3" long.
Have fun,
Richard
One of the more delighting little things was the rerailing ramp that doubled as the rolled-out 20th Century red carpet.
I always thought there should be a version of 'drop-in' Jiffy Railer that had the two double-end ramps molded with tongues, and an extruded 'channel' in the middle shaped and painted like the middle of various road crossings. You cut it to length, snapped in the ends, and voila!
I have a Rix railer and I love it. When I started my layout, I was in my 40s, but as I've aged, I really appreciate the ease in putting rolling stock and locomotive back on the track. Trust me, you'll put it to good use.

Are they anything like the RIXrailer?*

It is available in N as well.
Good Luck, Ed
*[edit] After doing some digging I see the Jiffyrailer is akin to an Atlas rerailer but can be snapped into existing track.

Looks like a good contender for a 3D print?
Are you looking for the ramp type or track type (grade crossing) ?
Walthers lists the ramp type and ebay seems to have several listings for the track type.
Good luck,
Are Jiffy Railers still avaiable?
