Additional shelf layout progress
Posted by cats think well of me on Sunday, October 10, 2021 7:14 PM

Hi all,

I did some more work on my shelf layout this weekend. The wiring is done! The track laying is about done. I say, "about done" as I wanted to check how things fit and make tweaks, and test my locos on it. The setting will be upstate New York in the fall, one of my favorite locales, and seasons. It is not based on anywhere particular, though the station kit I have is for a prototype still standing in Cambridge New York. I don't have Boston and Maine and New York Central power with DCC at the moment, so my PRR and Reading models are doing good service letting me see how the layout operates. Control is NCE Power Cab, and I used their wiring kit. All track is Micro-Engineering Code 70 with three spurs and a crossover mounted on Woodland Scenics track bed. All turnouts are hand thrown and I've ordered N-scale Caboose Industries switch stands for the spurs. With the track work about done, and once tweaked, I'd like to move into basic land forms and start adding some colors and textures so it's not obviously a land of styrofoam.

Nice work Alvie. I like the buildings and the backdrop - did you paint it yourself?

Simon,

Thank you! I got it printed from Larc Products, it's their "Mack" backdrop. You can specify sizes and they have a list of materials to choose from. http://www.larcproducts.com/AutumnNortheastPage3.html
