It's very good reference. It covers the various water, sand, and coaling towers; inspection pits, roundhouses, and fueling platforms in both the steam and diesel eras They even show you (and build) some of the available kits that are on the market. Good pictures and interesting history of the railroad moved from one era to the other. The last project in the book is how to build a diesel fueling platform.

I just read recently that Woodland Scenics also has diesel refueling miniatures in HO.

Hope that helps...

Enter the title in a book search on Amazon, and view the excerpt pages from the book. The last excerpt page (right before the back cover) shows a small picture of a diesel facility. If you can get a screen capture, that might give you a starting point, with the pictures on Walthers' site.

Also, there is an article in the August 1987 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman on building a diesel fueling facility. It has some nice color pics which show the fueling part (what the article covers), but also shows a sand tower which should be moderately easy to build. Email me if you can't find it in your local library (not all carry RMC, vs. MRR).

Walthers also has the Heljan facility available online. That's the only other one they have available..

Heljan make a very good Diesel sand depot and fueling rack kit in both HO and Ngauge.
I model in Ngauge and picked up such a model from M. G. Sharps of Sheffield. U.K. for £8-10 sterling + £3-50 postage. (This would be well under $20-00) Their web site is www.MGSharp.com and their Email is Email@MGSharp.com
The N gauge model's ref is N 607

It isn't supposed to come out until April. I've got my eye on it as I will be including a diesel fueling platform on the service track of my layout.

Here's another MR forum link that may or may not be useful fo you: http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=27384

Walters recently came out with (or is shortly coming out with) a diesel refueling station. You can see it here: http://www.walthers.com/exec/page/WS05/fueling_facility
