Thanks.
For jumpers and feeders what style tip are you using?
Do you find the HAKKO to be suitable for soldering feeders to bus wires, or do you use a gun for that?
Rick
A few years ago I got tired of all the cheap soldering irons I had and got a HAKKO FX-888D. I used it to upgrade all my old locomotives to sound. Now I need to modify some Peco and Shinohara turnouts to make them DCC friendly, as well as just attaching jumpers to track.
It has been 20 years since I have done this. I remember that most of my attempts came out fine, but there were a few that the ties got damaged, although luckily none to the point that I couldn't use them.
I plan to practice a little on some old sectional track that will never be used, but can anyone give me an idea of what temperature setting and tip to start with?
