So im wanting too much from my HO layout, and since I need a new desk, I figured I could take 1 or 2 things off the HO and build a desk. I have an L shape desk now, and a little side table as well that I can replace (or just tuck the table under, which is most likely what I'll do). But I will need to put my monitor and tower on the top. I figured if I have the track crossover near the inside of the L corner, I could tuck my Monitor up in that corner, and where the tower is, have it a tunnel. Keyboard and mouse would be on a pull out drawer (like you would have on a regular desk) and I'd need a hook for my headset. I'd probably have a second small pull out for the transformer, I have an extra Tech II I am nlt using, and since it will be enclosed amd running just 1 locomotive, I won't need DCC or Sound.
What I'm here for is has anyone did this before? I'm looking for ideas. Also I'm not sure what I should run for curve sizes, as well as what the crossing degree I could use. I was also thinking about having a passing siding on the main that has the station, so I was hoping to do that with a single switch. I migjt also have a spur, and a second passing siding on the curve of the short L side, so I can have a freight train as well. I'd shut off the freight train on it's passing siding, and turn the passenger train on. Pretty much stop the passenger train at the station, flip the switch which shuts that section off and puts the switches back to straight through, and also turns on the inside loop with he freight train. I think that would still be 1 switch as well.
I think it would be helpful to the folks that might have some ideas for you to have some measurements of the surface and the dementions of the items to be placed on the layout.
Also, your title says N scale, but your text talks about HO. Which are you planning to use?
