... Or has somebody another source where to get those or knows of more brands that sell backdrops like this?

The last time I was in Colonial Photo and Hobby in Orlando, they had quite a few HO scale Detail Associates backdrops on the shelf.

It might be worth giving them a call.

I have cut buildings from the Detail Associates backdrops (both N and HO), and used them in addition to my Walthers Instant Horizons Backdrops and background buildings.

I prefer these to the photo-realistic backdrops.

Those look really good, excactly what I'm looking for. Sadly though it looks like they're out of print, couldn't even find some on eBay, maybe some day one will pop up... Or has somebody another source where to get those or knows of more brands that sell backdrops like this?

My backdrop is the layout room's walls, complete with 10 coved corners, painted as a light blue sky.
I do use some low-relief background structures, though, both scratchbuilt and printed photo reproductions of real structures...

...while here, the "wooded distant hills" in the background is a piece of suitably-painted Masonite, with an application of ground foam...

I may add some painted-on scenes to some areas of the layout as more of it gets developed.

Painted backdrop buildings

Hello everybody,

I'm in the process of finalizing the backdrop on the yard scene of my model railroad, so far I've been using a plain sky/clouds backdrop I got from a company in Austria and cut out and rearranged some of the Walthers instant buildings and instant horizons.

Examples just in case someone wouldn't know them:

https://www.walthers.com/instant-buildings-industrial-district

https://www.walthers.com/background-scene-24-x-36-quot-60-x-90cm-instant-horizons-tm-freight-yards

Here's my question: Are there other companies out there that offer painted backdrop buildings like Walthers does? I actually do like photographic backdrop buildings and I've seen quite a few companies offer those but I don't want to combine those with the painted Walthers backdrops.

So I'm looking for more painted backdrop buildings to be cut out and arranged on my background.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Cheers from Switzerland

Lukas
