Hi John, I have sent you a PM with my email etc to get a pic or two to you...

Hi Tinplate Toddler
Minitrains do the four F & C RR passenger coaches I want, their tippers are nice too I have a pair of them.
But they are smaller than the Eggerbahn ones hence the dubious scale comment for the Eggerbahn tippers.
At least I think they are Eggerbahn they are certainly old enough they are green with a red frame must put some "N" scale spoked or OO9 curley spoked wheels on them to improve there apearance a bit.
regards John
John - Minitrains of Germany is still producing tippers (and other HOn30 rolling stock), which match the old Egger Bahn tippers.

Hi dknelson
Thanks for your thoughts just more country side does work well.
Maybe I should try to avoid the often cluttered fill every inch looks you see even on very large standard gauge models.
Narrow gauge tends to be very open country side.
Hi xdford
Thanks for the sugestion tippers show up on evil bay often enough its just a case of waiting for the sensible right price instead of silly collectors price.
I did wonder about a timber tramway on top of the on the original layout derelict one to increase traffic but another mine or a mine loading point would work too.
Given the passanger and bogie freight cars are only about four inches long, some are even shorter than that, I can probably not bother increasing station length given the smaller cars or add a little bit but will not need much.
One thing you might be able to help with is what paint to use for VR passanger car red as I have a couple of HOn30 PBR coach kits, brake van and an EEK!! modern image tourist brake to assemble.
Still have to get a train of minitrains un-lettered green F&C.RR coaches and a brown unlettered mail car.
Given there very clear PBR identity of the kit coaches it makes sence to paint them all passanger red.
My general view - the more just plain running through open countryside the better. 6 more feet of running room does not need to be crammed with anything - just pure open space.

What a conundrum!!!! Personally John, I think I would use the extra space to make the stations slighly bigger and go for the extra length of run. My personal philosophy is that trains were meant to carry relatively large loads over longer distances. Whiles I do a lot of switching on !my own layout to make up trains, nothing beats the distance between stations.
If per chance, you find another source of the Eggerbahn cars, you could always make up another mine!
Yours would be the second layout here in Australia that I am aware of based on the SJC but the one I was familiar with was in HO standard gauge. A couple of years ago at an exhibition, there was an N scale layout as a 6 x 3.5 to the original Gorre and Daphetid track plan... I nearly did not recognise it! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Hi all
Well I have the benchwork made.

I have brutalized the track plan which basicaly means HOn30 instead of HOn3 and changing most of the on line sidings to double ended ones so the plan becomes in my opinion more operable, it also makes the track plan a bit more Australian in nature while in essance at least not changing the overall plan.
Now I have had a bad case of the what if's and I have not even got to the track bed yet.
This one is going nowhere fast but is moving or at least squirming err I think?.
The what if being what if I double the long side which would add another six feet in length sounds good to me more running line can't be a bad thing can it.
So the question is do I do it? space is in this instance not an issue.
If I do, do I just move the station more to the centre of the long side and just increasing run length or do I add something new with the new section and if so what?
I have enough Eggerbahn tippers of dubious scale for the mine at Tincup but not enough for two mines.
Any thoughts what started as a simple lets get it done idea isn't any more.
