Andersen Models - San Francisco Di Aziz Church kit, HO scale
Posted by D&RGWRR476 on Saturday, April 25, 2020 9:39 PM

Years ago this kit was available. I cannot find it now anywhere. Has anyone seen this kit for sale? Also cannot find a decent Andersen Models website. Are they still in business?

Thank you.

There was a review of a 2010 kit in another online magazine and the website listed there is for sale.  Can you have a real model railroad business these days and not have a website?

Many of the small and not so small mom and pop manufacturers have folded with the ageing or death of the owners.  Shinohara, Rail Graphics are two that come to mind.  Others have been bought by employees, NWSL or by another company like Grandt Line and San Juan Models.

I did find one kit for a garage.  I do not know if this is a viable retailer, so do your homework if you are going to buy on the Internet from a company, you've never heard of.

Hi Henry,

I found this model built by Bob Brown in the NG Gazette from about 11 years ago. In the article was an email address and website. None worked. So, you are right in thinking this guy went out of business. I see Chooch is retiring and did not see if anyone is buying him out, so yes, unfortunately, a lot of mom and pa businesses come and go.

Thank for your reply.
