Does anyone out there have any suggestions for materials that
I can use for concrete in a intermodal yard? I was going to use masonite, but it's too thick. I was thinking about large sheets of styrene. Where can I get large
sheets of styrene cheap?

Take a look at "For Sale" signs at Walmart. We paint the back a concrete color.
Easy to cut.

I have heard that you might be able to pick up sheet styrene from local sign making shops. They use a lot of it.
I ordered some online. I think I got it from US Plastics, or maybe US Rubber.
If you go to a local hardware store, you can get For Sale or Beware of the Dog signs and just turn them over.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

I was able to get pieces of 2'x2' styrene sheet from a local sign shop. I think it's 0.060" thick. I paid the guy $5/piece for it. I checked a local plastics supplier, but they wouldn't sell me anything smaller than a 4'x8' sheet, and I didn't need that much.
I've also seen/heard of people using various plaster-like materials (e.g. drywall/spackling compound, straight-up plaster, etc.). Ken Patterson has a "what's neat" video segment where he paved a road using concrete patching material that comes in a plastic tub from HD or Lowe's. That seemed to be turn out well for that application.
