In Tony Koester's article "Building Wingate in O Scale", he mentions painting the fascia and scenery base "CTC Machine Green".
Is there a matching color formula that one could take to a hardware/home center and get a gallon made?
In "Time Saving Techniques for Building Model Railroads" he says he took a piece of a real machine and had it scanned at the paint store. The book has a sample on page 70, assuming the printers reproduced it accurately. It looks close enough to me. It's a brownish/tannish green color, doesn;t have to be exact. Not all brown, and not a bright green, anything will work, really.
I believe the official color was Devoe Upland Green. Devoe is now part of PPG Pittsburgh Paints, the nearest dealer to me is 21+ miles away. The color code for Upland Green was 1YO25A, dunno if they can still match based on that or not.

I think you are overthinking the problem unless you want to build a CTC machine. Greens and browns are very common in the Home Depot shelf of returned paints.

That's some other company that claims to be able to match anyone's paint. I found that one to. Definitely not Devoe's site.
Here's a look at a neat machine a modeler built:

A few years ago I came across a Krylon color called Hosta Leaf. If you can still find it I think it was a perfect representation of the old, green color that so many manufacturers used for stuff like cabinets, lockers and tool drawers.
I think it would be a perfect match for US&S CTC green.
Good Luck, Ed
Not trying to overthink this and I know there are mind boggling variations at home centers today . . . I was hoping maybe someone (possibly Tony) might have a color code already matched so one could simply go to a home center and get a gallon.
If anyone at MR monitors the forum and can see if Tony has a code - that would be great; otherwise, I'll just find a color swatch that's close.
Thanks!
