Is yellow glue the same as wood glue? And for gluing foam to foam could I use either white Elmers glue, or wood glue?

Yes, yellow glue and wood glue are the same thing. As to your other question, I think the only diffrence between the use of white glue and wood glue is that wood glue is a little more resistant to the elements. I ahve used both when gluing foam and can't tell the difference.

Some guys like Liquid Nails. (Make sure its the LATEX version!) Others, claim that latex caulk is a good alternative. It's easier to apply and it sets up faster than the white or wood glue.

Depends a bit on what you are gluing the foam to. Foam to foam to make scenery supports, the white glue works just fine. To fasten the foam to my wood framework for the actual benchwork I used the yellow wood glue, it's a bit stronger and forms a stronger joint

Well I ended up using wood glue for foam to the plyboard base and white glue for foam to foam. Should hold well when it dries.
