Road Striping
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, January 3, 2005 12:45 PM
I am relatively new to the train modeling hobbie, a little under 2 years doing stuff when I have money. I was wondering what i shoulf use to do the striping for lanes on my road. My road is just a dark grey paint on several coats of base paint on plywood. Thanks

jediobiwan,
You can paint your stripes, use decals or tape. I opted for the tape. Its easier to put down and easy to change. I use "Great Planes Quick Stripe" or "Line o tape" pinstripe tape in 1/16" and 1/32" widths for HO. Its a little shiny, but a little spray of Testors DulCoat fixes that. There are a couple of photos of my tape road centerlines on my website.
Hope this helps.[:D]

Remember its your railroad

Wow, that does look good :). I found out since I posted that that I can use what I had already bought. I had bought craft paint and had masking tape so I would just paint the line, but that didnt work the first time, because I could see the grey through it. But then I tried again with a lot more paint and it worked. Thankyou :)
And it works with my budget, as I am only 15 and have little to no money :).
