I made a mistake. Looked at the prototype more closely and I see that it is two main lines that go to and from Cheyenne and a third that seperates from the two but merge back before and after the tunnel. Now I see why the east side has this arrangement with crossover.
The middle track is actually ML2 and ML1 is the outside track. The inside track is lead to and from the yard.
RR_MelJust curious Elias, which came first the passenger ramp or the width of the tracks? Nice crossovers!
On this layout the width of the platforms was dictated by the dimensions of the crossovers. In Brooklyn the crossovers do not take up as much real eastate and so the local tracks have to curve outward to accomodate a reasonable platform and then come together again to matrch the size of the right of way.

BroadwayLion Well I would not call that a cross over. This arrangement seems to merge a third track either to ML1 or ML2 for transit through the two track tunnel. It will not cross a train from ML1 to ML2. These crossovers are identical to the NYCT crossovers south of Prospect Park. Trains can cross between local and express tracks, but cannot cross between north and south tracks. (equipment is parked on the southbound express track) ROAR

Basically, you seem to have two loops which do not intersect with each other except via the middle track.
I am designing a layout based on the UP Cheyenne yard and Sherman Hill. Looking on Google maps I noticed an intersting crossover on the west side of the tunnel. I have incorporated it into my track plan, top of the layout. Is this a decent way to do it with two switches and a wye? The east side of the tunel is a more traditional arrangement.
Also not sure where to put a crossover/run around from the A/D track to the yard lead.
