Just an update. Have made more changes to plan. Discovered that yard lead was way to small. Extended it. Labeled all tracks ie. S1 = siding 1, S2 = siding 2 etc.

Actual size of Durham tool and Easton Pallet companies (measured actual models) required tracks to be moved out from wall about 1/2 inch. This of course changed other tracks.

Actual painting of backdrop paused - first blue color I picked was too light. Went back and selected second darker color - too dark Sad  Gone back a 3rd time with a color in between - one that matched a video of a backdrop being painted using the wet method - blending white from bottom up into the blue.

And I have spent still more time unpacking supplies from years ago and getting put where I can see and use them.

Will make better progress this week!

The track plan looks very enjoyable for a one.man operating session.

.

I hope construction is going well.

Thanks Kevin.  I'm running simulations in XTrkCAD. Finding things that don't work as one would expect. I've made changes not reflected here - but would rather do now than later after the track is laid.

Construction wise I have the backdrop mounted and am currently painting it. Next is putting the scene on the backdrop.

Thanks and regards

Looks good Tom!  Lots of switching. Yes

Mike.

Thanks Mike. That is what I want for this layout. I have a system time table for the towns and RR here so I can determine how many trains were on this route. I am really liking studying the prototype operation.

Palomino Layout - Construction in Progress

Now that I have a viable track plan it is time to start construction.

13ft deck is in place along with start of valence supports and backdrop. Nothing is fastened down yet and looks messy. Lots of work to go (I love it!).

Rain forecasted here remainder of week so hope to make good progress.

Track plan:  Thanks to all the inputs over in the Layout forum.
