Switch Layout Problem
Posted by SpaceMouse on Saturday, January 1, 2005 9:15 PM
I am building a temporary 4x8 layout for my 7-year-old autistic son (and me) out of EZ Track to play ont and get familiar with running the trains until I can get my layout done.

Below is where this temporary track is going. Right now the track is just the inner oval and turnout within that oval.

Eight more turnouts will be added. The outer loop will elevate to just enough height to pass over the inner loop. The two spurs will be where we park our trains while the other is in use. These will be inuslated from the rest of the track unless switched on. So I have 12 switches that must pretty much be opperated in pairs.

So the question is. how do I lay this out so that my kid can tell which switch works which turnout or spur?

Draw out the layout on a piece of board smaller scale size of it, and mount the switches on the board where they control that section of track. Like my temporary one
