In other words, UncleButch, it would appear that the 190 is probably bigger than the 165.

I bought a baggie of used ones at a train show awhile back. There were two sizes ,but they both worked fine. So could be?

I have yet to buy any new, so can't compare, and they are all installed so can't look for any numbers

If I remember right the 190 travel ones were for a turnout by Atlas that was common  to find at the original time it was made but rare now.

I use both the rigid and sprung, didn't know there was a difference in travel.

Went to thire web site; the only thing I can find is the 165 travel is for HO/N the 190 for HO/S

They are both offered  sprung or rigid, with or with out  assorted ends

If you think about it; the points can only move ''so'' far, but must move that far.

So if the item is listed for HO, it should work for HO

I use the 0.165" ground throw exclusively, because of the selectable ends, Caboose Industries Item No. 5218S.  I never really considered the difference in the travel distance when I looked into ground throws.  I am pleased with the results.

Caboose Industries Ground Throws

Caboose Industries makes ground throws for HO with two different travel distances, .190" and .165" (the latter come with selectable ends for the brand of turnouts employed).  What are the considerations in selecting the travel distance?  I'm getting ambiguous answers from club members - if they are aware of the differences at all.

Thanks,

John
