Yes, fellas, with exchange, shipping, and then GST added at my door, it works out to about CDN $7 for 25 sticks.

I like the weathered ties of Walthers track but,for my next ISL I'm going to use Code 70.

Peco's line of Code 70/83 track is looking pretty good if those prices for Walther's are correct.  Last purchase for Atlas Code 83 had me weeping at $7/stick.

Is that CDN 7 dollars?  At MBK Atlas code 83 is about 4.50 USD for a bundle of 5 and 4.20 USD for a bundle of 25.

But I am looking at Peco code 83 for next layout as it is reportedly fairly flexible which I prefer over the stiff ME or Shinohara flex.

Atlas at $399.99/100pc at Modeltrainstuff. At $10 a stick Walthers  better be something really special.

I did not even check their price, I can drive there and pick up a case freight free.....its only 40 minutes from my house.

$7 Canadian?

It's only a little over $4 here:

https://www.trainworld.com/manufacturers/atlas/atlas-500-100-code-83-super-flex-100-pieces/

$409.99 for a case of 100 pieces. Not sure what the shipping is these days, but years ago it was not bad from NY to me here in MD.

Ten bucks a pop is a LOT.

I remember buying plastic tie Atlas code 100 flex track at 75 cents a stick at the hobby shop, and bulk was even less. Does that mean I'm old?

Well let me drink this here ten cent bottle of Coca-Cola (and get money back for the deposit on the bottle when I'm done) and think about that.

Yeah, you're we're old.  As dirt.

Yes, we are. I worked in the hobby shop when that track was only 75 cents.......

I was young then.......

I'm selfishly disappointed that they have not announced Code 70 track for their new line. Outside of being pricy having a choice of switches is good. Hopefully this will become a stock item instead of a reservations required one and done.

I was also disappointed that the Reading units are Yellow - Green instead of Olive green. RS3s and GP7s were used all over the Reading System, in both Freight and Passenger service.

Boris

Yea, code 70 would be nice but I bought all could when Walthers cleanced out the Shinohara at $4.60 a pop for flex and turnouts were less than $13.

Pssst.  I've got some Walthers non-DCC turnouts in good shape - no takers on HOSwap yet..

I hope this helps drive down the prices of the old solid frog non-DCC Wlathers/Shinohara switches on the secondary markets.

.

It has been getting too hard to buy these, people are wanting "collector" prices lately.

Hmm, Modeltrainstuff prices are about 20% off Walthers catalog price, which is full MSRP. If that level of discount remains, the 5 pack will be about $37.50, or about $7.50 a section. Still more than the others.

I have always bought Atlas by the 100 count case to get the best price, never saw the need for any of that more expensive track, except for ME bridge track.

I could just never cozy up to anything Alco.  It must be an Eastern thing.  They sure seem to be popular in here.

I was born in 49, so as a youngin, I was in the "transition" era.  I was never around trains.

One of my few flaws    Whistling

Mike.

EDIT: Just realized my post has nothing to do with Walthers track and turnouts.  OK, so maybe another flaw, being off topic. Oops

That's $10 per section of flex track! If that is correct, that is ridiculous.

Nah $10 for one piece plus $9.50 shipping is ridiculous

https://www.ebay.com/itm/312064919359

Trainworld still has Walthers concrete ties, $90 for 10

MTS Atlas, ME and Peco is roughly $4, 4.80 and 5.40 buying in quantity.

The 626 looks like the Walthers paint scheme

I like RS-3's and GP's equally.

Unless I am misunderstanding the listing, a 5-pack of Walthers Code 83 flex track is $49.98. That's $10 per section of flex track!  If that is correct, that is ridiculous.

Right details, wrong paint scheme. Why's everybody got to do the yellow and green? Life Like did it with the cabooses - they made ONE road number in Reading painted red, when they did the second run of yeellow and green scheme, they made TWO road numbers. At least these are 4 road numbers that don't overlap the 4 previously done as P2K locos, the ones I already have. And nice that the DCC ones have different numbers than the DC ones, so you cna get all 4.

Guess I will just have to use RS-3s for most of my trains. Wait, where's the problem with that?

New Walthers track and turnouts
Posted by BigDaddy on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 4:50 PM

The latest Feb-Mar Flyer announces "retooled" Code 83 and Code 100 track arriving April 2019.  They show wood tie flex track, 4,5,#6 R&L turnouts, rails joiners and code 100-83 transition track.  No mention of wye's or concrete ties.

Turnouts will feature isolated frogs with built in jumpers, current jumpers entering and leaving frog (?Dunce?) DCC friendly with insulated tie bar.

The cover has a B&O GP-7 with air reservoirs, but there is no mention of this road name in the catalog.  Randy they have a Reading GP-7 for you.  List price for Loksound is $300
