Digitrax Decoder Question,,,,
Posted by FCnota on Thursday, December 30, 2004 8:50 PM
Hey everyone, I was hoping someone could give me a hand/idea. Here we go. I installed a DH-163-AT decoder into one of my engines. I hooked evrything up without a problem, it even works well. I have front, reverse and ditch lights on this engine. I count 4 special effects. I have no unsed wires. How in the world can I get 2 more effects out of this decoder? There is no sound in this engine. While I'm happy with how everything came out, I'm curious how to get the most out of this decoder. Am I getting everything, or is there something else I can do? Thank's to everyone in advance! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The green and violet wires coming out of the 9 pin connector are your other two functions that you should use for ditch lights.

Randy,
Thank you for the feed back, however perhaps you misunderstood me. I've used all the wires, the green and purple for the ditch lights, and everything works as it should. The decoder supports 6 FX functions, but Im using 4. How do I tap into the other two? For example, lets say I'd like strobes on the cab roof. How do I wire the decoder so I get everything I have now, plus the 2 "extra" strobes? Or am I asking for too much? Any isead? Thanks for the help, Fred

See Page 6 of the DH163AT manual. You have to peel the plastic away at the end opposite the 9-pin connector to reveal the solder pads for the extra 2 functions.
