Building up from the Lionel 4-6-4 3-Rivers 1950's set I need to expand our Christmas Tree layout. I currently have about 60 pieces of Easy-Track of which 30% came from the set and more pieces I added later.
We need to greatly exand our layout for our seasonal around the tree layout. It'll occupy a space of approx 17 x 14 ft. I'm considering getting another engine but would like to go a bit earlier and maybe get something with 2 sets of drive wheels. It may not work on the O-36 track I now have but may need something with a bigger radius.
Also I really don't like the appearance of the Easy Track with the plastic roadbed and there are a lot of bumps between track pieces. The track will be on a marble floor so no screws. I like Atlas' 3-rail nickel silver track but worry about juction problems if I try to mate it with the Easy Track (I'd need to get adaptors).
Should I order Atlas' nickel-silver track or should I keep to my Easy Track layout? Also I'd really prefer 2 rail track over 3 but that would mean getting rid of the whole train and getting completely new ones.
Do people use both types of track together (with adaptors?) or should I try to sell my Easy Track & buy everything new in 2-Rail (or 3 rail) nickel silver?

Hi there. I have a portable 2 track layout in O gauge. I would say that if you strive for realism and can't stand the appearance of 3 rails, then you could consider 2 rail. But 2 rail is very costly, especially if you prefer steam.
