Newberry-Columbia Line: New passenger train just arrived for service
Posted by robert sylvester on Sunday, January 20, 2019 9:25 AM

Ever since I can remember I have always enjoyed running passenger consists going back to 1956 with my Lionel Southern F units with those beautiful extruded aluminum passenger coaches trailing behind. My first HO set was a Revell freight train, Atlantic Coast Line, followed by a set of heavy weights pulled by a Walthers New York Central steam engine in 1960.

Since then I have collected HO passenger cars from many roads over the years. One brand of coaches I collect are the O.K. all metal Stream Liners made right here in America, not Japan, Korea or China.

I am always on the look out and low and behold just last week a set appeared.

These kits were custom painted with new trucks and wheels and body mounted Kadee couplers.

When you buy a set from the company they are all metal, no paint, that's up to the owner. These were hand painted, the taladago trucks were replaced the new couplers which are body mounted.

I can tell you one thing, you don't have to worry about weights, being all metal they are just fine. My first set I hand painted and I added diagphrams,

with my new set I will have to add that detail with the Precision Scale pleated diagphrams with the brass stricker plate as I did with my brass cars.

Who ever did the custom work I think did a really good job, nicely done and clean.

They are led by two Oriental Limited F Units by Samhongsa of Korea. I hand painted these my self and added Evans headlights.

The are now in service, diagphrams to be added, and passengers can now travel from Newberry to Columbia in style. By the way each car cost $15.00, there are seven in the set, not bad for an American made product.
