Woodland Scenics Static Flock (not the field system)
Posted by BigDaddy on Saturday, November 24, 2018 2:09 PM

What are your results with:  Woodland Scenics Static Flock?  This is not the field system that was recently intoduced.  There is no length mention on the product.

I finally got around to building my flyswatter static grass applicator.  The wife asked what it was for and I explained it was to make the grass stand up straight.  She thinks the grass is called erection grass.

WS does not mention a length.  The strainer has larger holes than most strainers.

The results are mediocre.  The flock looks more tangled than erect.  Is this a function of the product or my feeble fly swatter voltage?

It does make a pretty good spark if I accidentally touch the t-pin to the strainer.Surprise

I have applied WS static grass flock with a $35 applicator from Micro Mark and had good results. I believe I heard somewhere that the WS flock is 2mm, but I’m not sure. It is pretty short. I am definately no expert, but I wonder if the holes in your strainer are too big for the WS flock to get a good static charge? I guess you could get some longer 6mm grass and see if you have better luck with that. Hope this helps.

Yes, the old WS static flock was 2 mm.  I found that the results were "fuzzy" rather than grass-like.  I got the grass look I wanted with Silflor 4 and 6 mm grass.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

I have a flyswatter thing, but I do not use WS grass, I believe its Silflor ?

anyway, my grass comes out pretty nice. If I try to put too mutch down it looks tangled. Could be your issue?

I tired some grass tufts and while they looked too bare when the glue was wet, they look OK now that it has dried.

Maybe I did put down too much, I low on the learning curve.
