Identity of Unknown Structure
Posted by bearman on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 7:09 AM

This is a structure on my layout which was purchased a long time ago.  However, I want to replace it with the same building but I forget the name of the structure, I think the word "cannery" was part of the name, and the manufacturer?

Can anyone help?

This looks like the one you have, Bearman.

I did an image search for HO scale canneries.  There was another pricey kit that MRR did a review on in the Aug. 20, 2009 issue that has buildings like yours, but can be arranged how ever you want.

Not sure if the above link will work, as I didn't jump through all the hoops needed to link anything from MRR to a current thread.

Mike, that is it.  You are a genius.  I tried doing a search but probably used the wrong verbiage.  Who is IHC?

Technically "who was IHC?" as they've been out of business for a while. There was IIRC an "IHC of Texas" or something for a while that was used as a vehicle for selling off IHC's remaining stock, but I think even they are gone now.

Yup, IHC = Out of Business, which means I am out of luck.

Rule 1: This is my railroad.

Rule 2: I make the rules.

Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!

They still seem to have a website: http://www.ihc-hobby.com/

Didn't see that structure, however.

If you say so.  I'm probably blind, but I'm not seeing that anyplace.

No maxman, it is another site for IHC which states it is out of business, not IHC Texas.  You are not going blind.

IHC did have some interesting structures which made for good kitbach fodder, and ones which were not cloned or taken from the AHM catalog (the same individuals were involved with both firms).  Nobody seems to have picked up the tooling.

At least one IHC structure was evidently retired Faller tooling as suggested in this thread from years ago

Looking at completed listings, I saw one sold for $10.00 + 3.75 shipping in Feb. If you aren't in a hurry, you can save some money.
