Mike's right...there are grooves in the sheet material:  simply apply the strip material into the grooves, one-at-a-time, then run a brush, laden with liquid solvent-type cement for styrene (such as offered by Testors and others) down the full length of the strip.  Don't dawdle with this, just a quick pass - otherwise, the solvent will make a mess that may be noticeable after the completed roof has been painted.

The little thin strips stand on edge, to represent the standing seam.  Isn't there groves in the base sheet for them?

I want to put a metal roof on a modern warehouse,I am using Evergreen Metal Roof sheets. Just dont know how the thin plastic fastners are supposed to be install. Can't find a decent picture. Anyone know ?
