Finshed lumber yard, ready to add to layout.
I did find a ton of options on eBay, finally. Now I have more lumber (including stacks of ply) than the yard can handle. Interestingly, the Cornerstone kit that I am using offers no lumber at all to fill the racks. :D
I'll post up my photos shortly, the yard is almost done. This is my first kit-bash in like 20 years. It isn't perfect, but I'm happy with it.

In all the lumber yards around here, plywood and other sheet-type material is stored indoors. It shouldn't be too difficult to use pre-formed loads intended for bulkhead flatcars if you're modelling current-day practices, or creating piles of non-wrapped plywood by cutting a number of N scale 4'x8' sheets from .005" sheet styrene. Even with large open doors and lighting, you could simulate piles of such material with paper-wrapped wooden blocks, with only a couple of the built-up piles near the doorways. They'd suggest to the viewer that there was the same level of detail in the whole structure, and it would save you a lot of tedious work.
On my late '30s layout, some dimensional lumber is store outdoors, while most other products are indoors...

ok, I’ve seen plenty of lumber stacks (2x4 types) for loads and lumber yards, but nothing in the way of stacks of plywood or sidings. Does anyone know of a source, short of cutting scale slabs?
I’m kit bashing a yard, based on an old article of a two level yard from MR 1960 may-July using Walters lumber yard and module panels for the store/office.
