I would like to say that my very first scratchbuilding effort turned out better than that... trouble is to say that would be a complete lie my part and mine was no where the quality of yours!
Well Done!!! I look forward to seeing your future efforts!

It's a bit clunky.
But it's N scale.
I really like it. It's got soul. We here in Oakland invented "soul", so I should know.
Yeah, yeah. People who come from Chicago and the South got their own opinions.....
Anyway. That's a nice piece of work!

Thanks Trevor
Thanks Ed, It is chunky but I had nothing thinner for the trim. Was truely working with I had.
That's an impressive first effort, especially for N! Stock up on some smaller stickwood, etc and you've got this nailed.

Thanks Mike, I have already started to collect some stuff with my order of track that came in yesterday I received an assortment of Grandt Line window and doors. Next up is my stick lumber and some roofing material.

Hi Robert!
I think that it is great for a first attempt. You used what you had quite effectively.
I'm a bit concerned about the painters tape possibly drying out and lifting over time. I use paper from plain manilla envelopes for that type of roofing. I glue it down with carpenter's glue, and once the glue is dry I prime it with cheap gray automotive primer to prevent the paper from buckling when the colour coat goes on. The paper doesn't have as much texture as your tape does. Personally I don't care for roofing where the texture or distress is overdone, but that is a personal preferance. If you like your tape, go with it. Hopefully it will stay in place.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Your right! came out better then OK. Any time you can make something from nothing without spending money is way better then just OK
The next one will be better and the one after that better still. Moral: don't wait too long to start another one.

I might have to give the paper a try; we will see how the tape works.
Thanks for the advise Dave, I have a couple projects in mind.
