There are plenty of good sites online that show pics of old coal mine sites and breakers. I have some old Postcards scanned that I could send you. New River is a WVA or VA based breaker from the 50's I think. All older Mine buildings were wood based, not sheet metal.

If you read the article a little more closely, the author states that he will tell you how to modify the kit in a later installment (March, I think).

Walthers makes a "Cornerstone" series or buildings and facilities. (It's a nice product with good detail.) The New River Coal Mine is part of that series. Hope that helps...
