I do admit, unlikely as it seemed at first, the tissue-paper/glue/paint and gloss coat harbor really looked pretty decent. I have a coastal-based module planned that could use something like that.

I have a friend who introduced me to making a gravel road (and therefore gravel at the side of a made road) with clay based kitty litter sieved as you have done. I used it for the roads on an On30 exhibition layout I helped build... similar idea slightly different technique. The result can be seen on

I like the idea of the double sieving with the stocking mesh... the finer dust would give a lot more variety in the texture

Nice work!   In Canada (and the US I suppose), there is white glue, and there is the yellow wood glue. The white glue is truly transparent when dry, while the yellow glue has a bit of a yellowish film to it. But the film is hardly noticeable when dilluted. I find it a bit stronger for holding scenery material than white glue (and woodland scenics' product). I also add a bit of auto window washer to the mix as a wetting agent.

Hi BigDaddy,

Thank you! I mix wood glue (PVA-B type) with water + a drop of soap. In some areas of the world this glue is more know as "white glue", in some "wood glue" but the actual name is PVA-B. Sorry for the confusion!
