As Tim (the Toolman) Taylor said:
"Instructions are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to install it."
He got a good laugh when he delivered that line.

This is my first step up from shake the box kits.
The directions recommend prepainting both sides Except for parts with Sticky Backing Their emphasis not mine. There is also further cautions about sovent paints and the sticky backing. Cody build one on MRVP and he didn't paint it until after it was assembled. I don't remember him painting the inside at all.
I painted the parts they indicated, both sides.
The windows are a two pieces of sash, with sticky backing and the clear glazing, when everything is stuck together, they fit inside the window frame. The window installation instructions begin: This step assumes you have prepainted the parts. These are the parts they warned me not to paint a few pages ago.
I would have to leave off the glass if I painted them after assembly and the sticky backing needs some encouragement with an exacto blade to come off in one piece. That would make weathering less problematic for the windows, but installing windows at the end is difficult for a guy with shakey hands.
Suggestions are welcome.
