Mixing PECO OO 1:76 scale models with 1:87 scale layout

I have seen this question in regards to mixing track but haven't seen a thread on models.

I am planning a passenger station on a curve and PECO's curved platforms which would work perfect for my layout however they are 1:76 scale.

Will I (or anyone else) notice the scale difference? Has anyone else mixed OO PECO 1:76 models with HO 1:87 layouts?

Because British trains are in general smaller than US, many OO scale accessories meant for the UK market are quite usable in HO scale (even many 1:76 scale structure kits are usable but the doorways may appear over-large).  This is why even Peco's own catalog refers to stuff being "OO/HO."    If you are talking about the PECO curved platforms with stone facing I found on the internet, the platforms seem of a plausible width and height for American passenger station platforms which of course come in a huge number of variations of size.

I think the main issue would be clearance - that is are they just that much higher that they would tend to foul or snag the end steps or overhang on American passenger cars and locomotives?  The NMRA standards gauge has a clearance provision for testing such trackside details which are close to the tracks.  I suspect they are OK.  But it may be prudent to obtain one to test before obtaining a batch of them.

Dave’s right, clearance is about the only issue. At the Club, we have a OO layout and my largest US steam locomotives steam chest catches on the stations platform, so in your case I’d be checking carefully before laying the track and or positioning the platform, especially as it is curved.
