I saw  Taskboard in Micro Mark catolog, anybody know about this stuff?

I believe Michael Rose is using Taskboard for his road bed. Here is a link to his layout thread. The thread has become rather large but if you post a question about Taskboard I'm sure he will answer it.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!

Is Gatorfoam the same stuff, or is it a better product ?

What you want is Gator Board, not foam.  Gator Board is a much better product.  Even the 3/16 inch thick material will stay flat.  Here is a link to some information: http://www.artsupply.com/foamcore/gatorboard.htm.

You do need to cut the material with a power tool to get the best cuts.  There is an individual who sells some of this at one of the local train shows.  He has a couple of pieces soaking in a bowl of water to show how resistant to moisture the product is.

Have you tried using wood or styrene braces in your structures?  I  have seen many posts of folks building craftsman and other wooden kits, saying they add support to those structures.

To answer your question, yes, Gatorfoam or Gatoboard (I think they are the same product) is a much better product.  At some of our local shows, a dealer has many structures made from it as well as suggestions for uses.

Don't know about Taskboard.

Good luck,

Richard

Gatorfoam ?

As a base for buildings, I've been useing a foam filled board from wallmart,no name on it. About a 1/4 in thick. Problem is anything bigger then a 6x6 square wants to not stay flat, warps or curl.

Is Gatorfoam the same stuff, or is it a better product ?
