Been retired a few years now.. and wanted to learn about the new DCC/digital control topics and technology.. got some books.. and learned as I went along. I was limited to only about 2.5 x 8 foot shelf in my hobby room... so I designed a foldup type of base (so that I can lift it to get to wiring,,etc. and designed a small service and facility layout... ie.. mainline goes by on the outside... and turnouts into the facility area.. has Walthers dcc turntable at one end with roundhouse.. and an Atlas turnout at other to facilitate turning locos from storage track areas.. etc... ( so that I wouldn't have to turn them around when at that end of track).
I've enclosed some pics.. you can see that I've installed bases for the roundhouse,, the coaling area the diesel fueling area... Watertank will be at largeturn table corner... and sanding will be next to diesel fueling.. I've include a programming track in the layout (that I can switch)... have not finished wiring,, but will have tortoise machines for all switches... underneath is wiring (with all powersupplies) and connections for eventual toggles for most tracks (on and off) for parking locos to stop sound,,etc.
Would like some comments if possible.. as to the track plan.. and general feedback... its all DCC... I'm more into modelling and building than actual running trains on long roundabout layouts.. .so I thought a facilities layout would fit the bill.... heres some pics..
