I used XTrackCAD 5 yrs ago for planning my current layout. Are the changes over that time frame significant for general use? I used the basic features and was happy enough once I figured out a few things, but not much of the advanced features.

Modeling HO with a transition era UP bent
While working on my plan this year I had installed the upgraded ver 4.2.4 and found it quirky, when you tried to line up a turnout it would flicker, I went back to 4.0.3a . I'm not sure if the newest version 4.2.4 is the same as 4.2.4a.
Any idea what the improvements are?

I haven't come across any issues yet, but only installed it yesterday.
I use the Linux version. The winders version could have problems that don't appear in the Linux version, and vice versa.
Peahrens, I don't think I can answer your question. There have been small incremental improvements and some minor feature upgrades. And again, I can only speak to the Linux version, since I spend almost no time using winders.
