If you are building a layout higher than 40", maybe something like this would help. I use one to ease the pain in my knees and back.
I also moved all terminations to terminal blocks or shorting blocks near the edge of the layout. Feeders and other wiring is dropped through the layout and then pulled to the edge of the layout with a long hook. By using color coded wire, I can get everything connected properly. And never leave the stool.
Sorry to hear of your problems. I once was looking at an E shaped layout. Glad to hear you are still interested in the hobby.
If you are a subscriber to MR you can go to their Track Plan Database listed under the HOW TO section above. I believe there are also some others on youtube, etc, but I haven't looked at them. Maybe someone else can point you in the right direction.
Good luck,
Richard
Two years ago I had just finished the construction part of my layout, I then suffered serious injuries to both legs that required surgery,it has left me with a great deal of difficulty in getting up and down on my legs. I had my track pinned down to the roadbed at the time, I can no longer get under the layout to complete any electrical work or get under the duckunders. I have decided to deconstruct my layout and start over with a more friendly layout for my legs. I have decided I need to have any future layout higher than the 40" of the current layout and not as large either. My current layout is shaped like the letter "E", 26' long with three parts of the "E" jutting out 16'. Since I have not used this site other than to read the forums, are there layout ideas on here and where do I look?
