if the rails corrode, clean them with a bright boy, no big deal. But, keep the transformer inside when youre not using the layout just to be safe

this may be a stupid question but I have set up my layout in an unheated garage and I am wondering if the cold, damp and snow conditions over the winter in Michigan will cause corrosion on the rails that could not be easily rectified by cleaning and whether the transformer is vulnerable.
