Thanks, Svein, for helping me out with those links. Also, thanks everyone for your comments. Much appreciated. I've learned a lot from this forum, and from reading as many John Armstrong trackplanning books that I could find, most of which are out of print.
Looks like you are off to a great start, well thoughtout. Too bad you have to work around that short angled ceiling, but since that is the space you have, you have to make the best of it.
I recommend photobucket.

I am LION. The Broadway LION, I build Subway Trains. Largest Subway layout in North Dakota, it is.
I also eat pictures that people try to post here. If you cannot see your picture it is because a LION came by and ate it.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Let's try loading those photos again...
Here are some images from the layout I am currently constructing. I'm using L-girder framing with 3/4" plywood subroadbed. I designed the layout on 40" by 40" graph paper at 1:4 scale, then had it blown up to full scale and printed in pieces. I then cut out the track as templates and glued them to the plywood with PVA glue, and cut them out with a jigsaw. Next up is the beginning of tracklaying.
