Hello All,
Free is good!
I just hope there isn't a rush at local area pharmacies for those handy little med dispensers.
For a paid option there's a sidebar in the April, 2015, edition of Model Railroad Magazine; pg, 24-25, about a Dial Seed Sower that can be used as a ballasting tool. According to the article it's available at home improvement centers for less than $5.00.
The childrens med dispenser looks perfect for between the rails applications but I'm wondering how it does on the shoulders?
The seed sower looks like it would be better suited for the thin stream required on the shoulders.
Having both in your ballasting tool kit might be the hot ticket!
As far as the tools used by the monks I imagine they are handmade.
Hope this helps.
"Uhh...I didn’t know it was 'impossible' I just made it work...sorry"
This is what I use. It is a childrens medicine dispenser, free for the asking at any pharmacy.

Anybody watch House of Cards? They have some Tibetan monks producing a sand painting in the White House. I was thinking the tool/technique they are using might work really well for ballasting track and other intricate scenery work.
I wonder where I could get one.
