how to change color of moutain scenery.

Help us out here a bit, like give us some clues to go on.

1. What is the scenery made out of (foam base, hardshell plaster, other?)

2. What is it covered with (ground foam, just simply painted, other?)

3. What color is it now and what do you want to try to do?

4. Are we talking about a big area or a relatively small section of your layout?

The more info we have to go on the better chance you'll have of receiving a useful answer.

are you doing a search or just like writing short sentences?...[:D] ..anyway... i hope this will answer your question...after I build my mountains, I paint everything with a flat latex white paint...after the paint dries, I look at the entire mountain in the light and where there are shadows, i'll spray some indian ink mixed in 50% alcohol and apply it to the shadowy areas, let it dry....now it's decision time...do i want southwestern colors or colors that are found in the east?...if i use southwestern colors, i'll choose, burnt sienna, raw sienna, burnt umber, raw umber, red iron oxide, and yellow ochre...if it's eastern colors, ill use white, shades of grays, and tans, ...i use those cheap acrylic paints that you can find at hobby lobby or walmart and mix them with 50% water..(you don't want to paint the scenery, but to stain it)....so at the top section of the mountain, use the light colors first, about half way down, use medium tone colors,and at the bottom portion of the mountain, use the dark toned colors until you've stained the entire mountain...let it dry...come back later and highlight the mountain surface areas here and there (where the light hits it) with white acrylic paint using a small paint brush...then add woodland scenics' products for trees, grass, bushes, and weeds.... chuck[:D]

I am working on my layout and want to find an article I thought I read on detailing utility poles for my HO layout. Can't find the article I read in Model Railroader magazine. Does this ring a bill with anyone or could some one give me some tips.
