LOL Randy, true, still I will be watching the Olympia as it progress's, there is nothing stopping it from becoming the beginning of a larger module layout, and maybe that will be the intention.

I guess it's okay for switching, and I agree about the run of 4 x 8 HO layouts they normally do, but I don't think it would hold my interest long. 

I'm a fan of the Possum Valley Railroad, although close to a "roundy round", at least it has longer runs with scenic dividers.

 It's not a switching puzzle, it's an actual operating layout in about as small a space as you can get. Just because it's small and has a traverser arm doesn't make it a switching puzzle like a Timesaver or Inglenook (to be fair there are plenty of prototype examples arranged exactly like the Inglenook design though). This is a layout that previously is mostly seen in England, where few people have the space for anything bigger, like a spare 10x12 room. I'm SURE thre are more people here than you'd think that might also be interested in this sort of thing for the same reasons. However, it clearly has no round and round capabilities, it MUST be operated to do anything, with the train pulling the loads down from the camp then switching them to the mill area, and vice-versa with the empties.

 I like it, actually. Something different from the standard 4x8 round and round project layout. I'm really thinking about doing it, to keep busy while I prep the basement and come up with a track plan. Plus if the front were finished off nicely instead of masonite painted black, I could probably even get it upstairs - assuming the scenery was nice enough as well.

It is a very interesting video series, and I can see where some would be interested in logging layouts.

But, I am an urban layout guy, thank you.

long series......I was excited back in 2011 when it started (or is it just me?)

I was excited when I seen they were going to do a logging layout....but that was quickly extinguished when I see what they are building. No wonder I couldn't find a trackplan.

Hi Rich just a case of a slight difference between cultures me being over the pond here in Scotland! What I meant to say was in the list of videos #22 was not there. It went from #21 to #23. Sorry about the confusion caused!

 

cambus267, no confusion.  It was clear what you were saying.  Olympia Logging Episode 22 is missing from Videos Plus because it is still being edited.  It never was posted, but it will be for the first time next week along with Episodes 24 and 25.

Just spoke with Kalmbach Customer Service.

Turns out, Olympia Logging Episode 22 never was posted.  It is still being edited and will appear for the first time next week along with Episodes 24 and 25.

Have I missed something I have been following this series with the view to building it. However it seems that video 22 has gone missing and if you watch the rock building videos the retaining walls are already in place.what is going on????

 

cambus267, you mention that #22 has "gone missing".    Was it ever there in the first place?   Do you recall seeing it at one time?

I believe it is anyone's guess. Yesterday when I looked it up...#22 was there, now it is not and it is a different Video availability format for Olympia than when I found it yesterday. Oh well.

I only get the preview of it. Not a subscriber to MRVP.

I've even thought about building this layout, as something to do while I plan my basement railroad and do all the demo and rebuilding to prepare the space.
